28 Amphibious Engineer Regiment use a number of "Ferrets" for reconnaissance and liason purposes.
One Ferret is held by Each Amphibious Engineer Squadron HQ, and a further two are held by each Amphibious Troop HQ.
One Ferret is held by 71 Amphibious Support Squadron HQ, four by the Amphibious Training Troop HQ, two by
Reserve Rigs Troop HQ, and one by the Plant Section of Amphibious Support Troop, 71 Amphibious Engineer Support
Squadron, a total of eighteen. In time of war, an additional 2 Ferrets are held by RHQ 28 Amphibious Engineer Regiment,
and each Squadron HQ holds an additional Ferret.
FERRET - Germany 1978

The vehicles are commanded by a reconnaissance Sergeant and are armed with a L3A3 0.3 inch Browning machine gun, the last vehicles in the British Army to be so armed. The last Ferret came off the production line in 1971.
